Can cucumbers prevent wrinkles?

Do you remember those old sitcoms where ladies laid down on sofas with cucumbers on their eyes? I thought it as just a “wives tale” until I read about it in a magazine, stating that it is beneficial not only for puffiness of the eyelids but good for wrinkles too.

I’m pretty open to try anything, so ! I cut a few slices off a cucumber, put my feet up, and laid on my sofa for about a half hour, with cucumbers on my eyes.

It felt a bit odd, but somewhat refreshing too, and at the very least, it was a nice rest.

When I finally got ucucumber-for-under-eye-bagsp, I will be honest, I did not see much of a difference. Maybe I’m missing something, but it was not so beneficial to me. I guess I prefer cucumbers in my salad instead.

Reading further about the benefits of cucumbers, I guess it doesn’t work over night. Guess there goes the quick fix I was looking for.  Some people have reported good results after a five weeks of application. I’m not willing to commit to that amount of time.

I have in the past participated in a few cucumber drinks which was way more satisfying! With our without alcohol a tasty treat

Sparkling Cucumber Water

It’s much easier to drink your 8 glasses a day when water tastes this cool and refreshing. This very simple recipe doesn’t require exact proportions; here’s a general guideline.

  • Half an English cucumber, sliced somewhat thin
  • 2-3 cups water
  • 1 liter sparkling water, club soda or seltzer water, chilled

Place cucumber slices in the bottom of a bowl or pitcher, and add just enough water to cover them. Refrigerate for at least an hour, up to overnight.

Add sparkling water to taste, and serve with ice and a twist of lime.
